Reflective practice group work
Common Ground Therapy offers reflective practice group work to organisations and teams across south-east London. This provision is available to organisations, employers, institutions and less formal groups who recognise the value of reflecting upon the emotional impact of their individual and collective work.
Potential areas of focus
The potential areas of focus are unlimited but can often involve the following:
Emotional impact of work — the different impacts of the work and the sorts of difficult feelings that can get unconsciously stirred up by the process of collaboration, potentially undermine cooperation. These can often include frustration, competition, rivalry, idealisation, envy, resentment, impatience, disillusionment, disappointment, or impulses to control the counterpart, etcetera.
Collective working assumptions — the kinds of collective, working assumptions which may hinder progress and benefit from critical reflection.
Personal and familial patterns — more personal and familial patterns of relating which may burden the capacity to communicate constructively.
Interpersonal tensions — potential inter-personal tensions around the following areas:
- Socio-economics
- Social identities
- Political ideologies
Format
The format of this support can be provided on an individual basis, to small groups, or the plenary group as a form of ongoing supervision. Alternatively, formal consultative feedback and observations can be provided after a closed-ended period.
