Dr. Gautami Parekh (she/her; they/them)

Child & Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

As a child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapist working in a CAMHS clinic for the NHS, I tend to work with people aged 0 to 18 and their families on a wide range of issues related to mental health and wellbeing.

My specific areas of interest include gender identity, sexuality, racial and social identities, and the impact of language, culture, class, caste and colonial legacies on individual development and identity formation. My specialisms include work with parents and infants, looked after children, adoption and fostering experiences, intergenerational and complex trauma, neurodiversity, and issues that are expressed through or held in one’s body.

I enjoy working with families and connecting with parents and carers of all ages and stages of life. I was previously a Montessori teacher and trainer for over 20 years before training as a child psychotherapist, so I bring a wealth of experience in understanding and managing the developmental needs of various stages of childhood and adolescence. I have worked across continents and domains including government, NGO and voluntary sectors.
